Cookie Policy
Which cookies this site uses, why, and how to control them.
Template notice: this policy is a professional starting draft specific to Niyams and must be reviewed and approved by qualified legal counsel before production use.

1. What cookies we use
This site keeps cookie use minimal and splits it into two categories:
- Essential: storage required for the site to function — currently only the record of your own consent choice. These do not require consent.
- Analytics (Google Analytics 4): optional cookies used to measure how the site is used so we can improve it. The GA4 script is not loaded and no analytics cookies are set until you explicitly accept analytics cookies.
2. Your choices
When you first visit, a banner lets you Accept analytics, Reject non-essential, or Manage preferences. If you reject or ignore the banner, analytics stay off. Your choice is stored in your browser and respected on future visits.
3. Changing or withdrawing consent
You can change or withdraw consent at any time using the control (also in the footer of every page). On withdrawal we signal Google Consent Mode that analytics storage is denied, stop all further GA4 page-view and event tracking, and delete GA4 cookies for this domain where technically possible. You can also clear cookies directly in your browser settings.
4. Current cookie table
| Name | Purpose | Type | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| niyams-cookie-consent (localStorage) | Remembers your analytics consent choice so we don't ask on every visit. | Essential | Until you change or clear it |
| _ga | Google Analytics 4 — distinguishes visitors for anonymous usage statistics. | Analytics (consent required) | Set by Google (typically up to 2 years); deleted on withdrawal where technically possible |
| _ga_<container-id> | Google Analytics 4 — persists session state for the GA4 property. | Analytics (consent required) | Set by Google (typically up to 2 years); deleted on withdrawal where technically possible |
This table reflects the cookies/storage actually implemented on this site and should be re-verified at launch.
